Here’s a sneak preview of some Christmas pieces we have been working on! Letterpress printed cards created with custom illustrations and vintage type blocks are now available at Palettera! As the week unfolds, we will have a new design printed each day. If you would like to order a custom colour of any of these limited edition prints, email us at info[at]palettera.ca!
We designed a multi-functional Christmas card, that doubles as an ornament! Letterpress printed in an icy blue using vintage type blocks, it is reinforced with festive red grommets, dec’d with twine and jingle bells, ready to hang on the tree —- or any office bulletin board! A private message remains a secret, since the paper is 110lb 100% lush cotton and you cannot see through to the other side.
For the music lovers who are humming to carols and popular Christmas tunes all over town, this card is perfect! It is foil press printed and embellished with a poinsettia and twinkling 2 mm swarovski crystal! Featuring a treble clef and violin illustration, it is classy and reminiscent of a festive symphony. “If music be the food of love, play on.” — Shakespeare.
With clean typography, again using vintage type, this bright green Christmas card will stand out! It’s short and simple, and has plenty of room for your good wishes and greetings!
Here’s an example of a custom piece that we created for the Assaulted Women’s Helpline. It’s the time of year to reflect and look ahead to 2011 and to be able to contribute to this association is a privilege. Helping others to help others through stationery design is meaningful! ….And it is particularly satisfying when the design is printed using the traditional way of printing on a press: it has an inherent charm that completely changes the experience of receiving a card!
Visual Cravings’ shot of our hardcover Christmas cards, perfect for the cherished grandparent or supportive parents and friends who went the extra mile this year.
We also completed a VERY unique batch of hardcover couture cards, made entirely of reclaimed vintage prints! — They come hardcover, handcrafted here in our Unionville studio with twine or in a box, should you want to be extra thoughtful! Playing on time and space, history and meaning, art and correspondence…. we present our reclaimed correspondence creations.
I want to thank Sam Wong from Visual Cravings for dropping by last month and shooting these awesome shots of our work! Sam was the photographer for Ashley and Jay’s wedding back in August and I’m so glad we met! (More on this wedding at a later date!) He likes to experiment with light and perspective in his photography and is super passionate! Light is particularly interesting to me as a designer because of the lights and shadows that are created through the art of letterpress printing. So I can definitely relate to his curiosity! Check out his blog for his recent work! I was very taken by the engagement shoot of Christine and Dave in High Park, Toronto. Perhaps my favourite shot is the one where he captures the commotion of the downtown core, with just the perfect touches of traffic signals, construction signs, pedestrians, a Toronto Maple leafs logo, and a cab — what an awesome moment documented by Sam.
