In 2011, Yasmineh and Saman were recommended to us by their good friend, Michelle. They were planning for their wedding in the summer, and heard about the beautiful letterpress invitation that we had created for Michelle.

A romantic and timeless couple, they were extremely in love, and also very photogenic. They valued quality and style and allowed us to be creative in making a timeless look. Their wedding date, July 2, 2011, happened to be their 6th year anniversary, which made it extra special. Yasmineh and Saman chose the Palais Royale as their backdrop, as they both love the ocean and Palais Royale offered a lakefront view — very romantic!

We created an elegant boxed invitation suite that featured her favourite flower, the hydrangea. We hand-illustrated clusters of hydrengeas; they adorned the mailing label of the custom-made box. Inside, a hardcover invitation sat gracefully with classic fonts printed onto a linen textured paper… and two fabric hydrengeas. Both flowers were handmade out of raw silk, and eluded to fashion, which was something important to Yasmine. Every petal was lovingly handcut and sewn together so that no two flowers would be the same. Guests were blown away by the detail and the beauty of the overall suite! It certainly set the tone.

Yasmineh wore a beautiful silk-chiffon and macrame lace gown by Giambattista Valli, perhaps the most stunning gown we saw in 2011. She also wore a a custom made veil from Vera Wang, Toronto – a 120″ long cathedral mantilla in Ivory with french chantilly lace appliqués and gold metallic thread. This became a part of the inspiration for the cake design, which took from the dress and our fabric hydrengeas.

In lieu of favours, they made a donation to the MAHAK Society to Support Children Suffering from Cancer in Iran. “They do an exceptional job of taking care of kids whose familes have no means to pay for their treatment,” recalls Yasmineh. We printed these messages on the menus that were tucked into each guest’s napkin. Each menu was personalized with the guest’s name in a lovely script font — a great finishing touch for the table.
