The Wedluxe Wedding Show, 2012. Hosted at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto

Sunday, January 8th, 2012 will go down in Toronto’s history as the premier luxury boutique wedding show that set the precedent for all shows. As a proud supporter of WedLuxe Magazine, PALETTERA was honoured to be a part. It’s no surprise, but just an added celebration to Canada’s luxury wedding magazine to have directed Canada’s most stellar luxury wedding show. Since our studio’s storefont opening in 2009, WedLuxe has invited Palettera into their coveted Glitterati list of Canada’s premier wedding vendors. We have aligned values for excellence in design, elevating the cultural landscape of Canada and offering quality local products to a discerning clientele.

For each issue of WedLuxe, we collaborate with some of the most creative people in Canada to create a runway of new ideas that disseminate into the industry as foundational trigger points. At the show this year, the influence of our work — independently as exemplary stationery designers and collaboratively as wedding professionals, was clearly seen. Our groundbreaking ideas have evolved and spread, and it is quite an honour and responsibility to continue to push the bar of excellence in Toronto, in Canada and across the world! With the resources that we have in a savvy and intelligent generation, it would be a shame to pursue anything less. Our dreams are attainable, and our art inspires the spirit — the stories of our clients told through the graphic design and handcrafted paper masterpieces. It’s not just an invitation. It’s not just a programme or menu. When our clients leave inspired, with products that inspire their family, friends and audience, it elevates the entire community.

Some noteworthy displays (truncated list) included Fuscia Designs (their fashionable table in Fuscia and Silver featuring gorgeous REAL floral pieces); Event Decorator (a stunning placecard tree that would be a great focal point at the wedding); Cynthia Martyn (her Coral and Crystal tablescape); Cake Opera Co (a super creative display in pink featuring a pig in a party hat that “ate a part of the cake” with gorgeous cake masterpieces); the Carats and Champagne vignette led by Platinum Events Group; and of course the show landmarks. These include the gorgeous entranceway, Kate Spade tea lounge and Wedluxe “master suite” by 5th Element (picture below). The most luxurious element was definitely the 4th floor with the upscale swag boutique and beauty bar, flanked by a gallery of glorious wedding gowns by Canadian designers.

Our display this year echoed the creative that we directed for Wedluxe Magazine, with a twist: SHANGHAI MEETS THE TORONTO WORKSHOP. Our team trucked down our 1905 Letterpress. The wheel was turning during the entire show, educating clients, colleagues and the little guests who were fascinated (especially little 6 year old Christopher). 800 deep red paper Gloriosas were individually cut and handcrafted, inspired by English florist Robbie Honey’s Gloriosa curtain for Hermes. A small vignette from our Old Shanghai Glam shoot sat in the corner, dimly lit by the Chinese porcelain lamp, next to all of our vintage pieces from all over Ontario, which became the living room showcase of our distinguished works from 2010 and 2011. We were so excited that you were excited about our work! It was particularly rewarding to have some of Toronto’s movers and shakers stop by our booth, taking note of the details in our work.

The wedding industry as a whole is a topic for another day. Let’s just say that the range of products, services, service providers and quality of design ranges. At PALETTERA, we believe strongly in businesses that help to build the cultural landscape in tangible ways such as: educating clients in design, producing quality locally handcrafted work, investment in professional studios & real storefronts that improve the streetscapes, producing sustainable local jobs to build a strong local economy, and giving back to the community. One very important way of giving back is to strive CONSTANTLY and TIRELESSLY for excellence, so that the product is edifying AND PROCESS made meaningful.

In the case of the WedLuxe wedding show, in the many meticulous design elements like signage and marketing, to the grandeur of the show, every aspect set the bar. When one is praised, the entire community is praised, and it elevates the platform on which ideas flourish. Cheers to a HUGE milestone in the Canadian wedding industry! Congratulations to Angela, Bruce, Carolyn and the entire WedLuxe family for a wonderful achievement. Special thanks goes to Event Decorator, the Linen Closet and Michelle R. & Giselle R. Thank you also to the Jackie Gideon Beauty Bar at the Ritz-Carlton for their spectacular make-up and hair artistry! Here are PART 1 of some highlights from the show, with more to come next week! Wishing the entire industry and all our clients a flourishing and artistically inspired 2012!
