A Culturally-Inspired Affair. Nancy and Mo exchanged vows at an exclusive villa along the shores of the Dominican Republic, in the Carribean. The venue and exotic surroundings were breath-taking! Nancy and Mo are both event photographers and party-goers. Being a part of the event industry as both a giver and receiver, they have seen it all and had high expectations from all of their wedding team! It was an honour for PALETTERA to be a part of this fabulous destination wedding.
Nancy is one of the most beautiful brides we have seen, and her style is so effortless and feminine — simply captivating. The event was put together by Nancy and Mo’s good friend Melissa Andre and photographed by Nancy & Mo’s very own Mango Studios (of course!).
Nancy & Mo’s wedding was designed in a contemporary translation of Moroccan style. The Moroccan national culture is known for its rich civilization, and combination of Arabic, Berber, and Jewish roots. True to parts of its history, Morocco was influenced by the French and Spanish. By incorporating some of the French influences and beautiful patterns found in Moroccan painting, pottery and interior design, we brought to life the story of the couple — they love travel, culture, and art. They find their bearing in each other.
And so, we create a beautiful hardcover folio invitation, which closed to a unique size of 4” x 9” and opened to 4” x 18”. The cover material felt like a refined hopsack or light linen trousers for the seaside. Inside, we illustrated a beautiful compass with classic typography that grounded the light, beach-inspired palette. Their names and text were pressed in a lovely matte gold foil. The invite closed with a single 1.5” medallion pressed in gold, beneath a single strand of hemp string in a single looped knot which referenced the effortless and casual-chic style of Nancy’s everyday.
Lovely details from their wedding included a 90-foot long ivory silk table runner from Pakistan that was from Mo’s family, and a moving wall projection created by Mo that incorporated the emblem we designed. We also made lovely little labels for the “message in a bottle” moment during Nancy & Mo’s speech: all guests simultaneously opened a tiny glass bottle to their own personalized note handwritten by the newlyweds.
Perhaps one of the favourite elements that we designed exclusively for their wedding were the menus — they featured a custom Moroccan pattern that we created, with the menu text interweaving with the graphics. In the centre, a golden medallion was pressed in matte gold, and gave the table a tasteful dose of shine. We gave the event a visual brand that really tied together all the details! Unforgettable parties begin with a PALETTERA invitation and this destination wedding will be remembered for a very long time.
