The Wedding Compass is Rhonda’s second wedding planning company. She started another company in 2006 with friends, and departed in 2011 to begin her own venture with a new vision. With personal service and a heart of gold, Rhonda serves her clients with integrity, creativity and a dedication to their priorities. The Wedding Compass, as its name suggests, help clients to navigate their wedding planning process with ease. In Rhonda’s words, her service is your personal wedding GPS, as you step foot on a new journey as husband and wife.
In addition to her clientele, Rhonda also wishes to bring awareness to the industry, and to articulate the value of hiring seasoned wedding professionals. She frequently attends conferences and industry events to keep herself updated and ready.
With her in-depth knowledge of Chinese traditions from her hometown of Hong Kong, Rhonda has also studied Asian History at the University of Toronto. She specializes in cross-cultural events, with an exemplary portfolio in Chinese-Canadian weddings.
Departing off the vision of marriage as a journey, PALETTERA designed a modern, upbeat design for the company’s identity that references navigation and travel. The main logo features a contemporary adaption of a compass, with small bridal icons that flank a sharp and distinct starburst in the centre. The design was letterpress printed in a nautical navy blue, contrasted against a pale blush bridal tone on 110lb cotton paper.
When we translated the vision onto the website design, we focused on the concept of navigation. The icons were switched to the exterior of the design and acted as navigation tools for the website, in lieu of tradition menu bars.
The compass was then re-interpreted as a porthole, through which clients would view photographs from Rhonda’s previous work.
